Personal Statement: I am seeking 500 RYT designation to better represent the breadth and depth of my experience to the public. The 500 RYT designation will logically build upon my work as yoga educator and yoga researcher. I hope to expand my participation in meaningful professional conversations focused on contemplative sciences and deliver quality yoga education in new geographic areas as a result of my change in designation. Specifically, I aspire to continue to produce research on yoga, teach yoga workshops, and someday lead a yoga teacher training. I have a background in neuroscience with specific training and expertise in eastern practices gained through two years of Traditional Chinese Medicine graduate school where I learned Asian bodywork, anatomy, tai chi, qi gong and other aspects of energy medicine. As a yoga teacher, I gained experience in restorative yoga, yoga as medicine, pranayama, meditation, yoga kurunta, and Thai yoga massage. I developed core clinical competencies and a broad awareness of eastern healing modalities while at AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, which has honed my client management skills. Furthermore, I have received recognition in yoga research as a Mind & Life Senior Investigator and presented yoga-based research at various professional conferences. As a result of these previous experiences, I would be honored to reflect the roles, ethics, and expertise conferred by the RYT 500 designation. B.
